ABOUT

CATGASTON is a London based menswear designer.

She graduated with a degree in BA Fashion Design from University for the Creative Arts Rochester. CATGASTON has been pubished in several editorial features in fashion magazines such as: Pause, Fucking Young, Ryker and Candid. These features showcased parts of her A/W 2018 collection "Why Question my Maculinity?".

The collection preserves the masculinity of the male body whilst adding a feminine touch to the collection whether it be the fabrication, styling or length of a garment. It was apparent that in womenswear any item of clothing that was made short or showed “too much skin” was automatically sexualised. Therefore CATGASTON wanted to challenge this and use this idea of showing skin for vulnerability on menswear but in a minimal way. She created a collection that is strongly influenced on silhouette that is largely based on contrasting layered garments for a feminine touch and oversized padded outerwear to keep their masculinity intact. In menswear there is a lack of clothing that is actually tailored and fitted to a man’s shape except for tailored focused collections. She wanted to be able to push this collection forward by using lace in ways to soften down a masculine look.
